Charter Oak Homes: Built Out of Passion for Quality

Ask David Wright why he doesn't build homes like most big track builders or developers that offer huge volume homes which lack charm and detail, he'll give you this look. If it isn't authentic, if it doesn't meet up to his own specifications, if it's not built to last, if it isn't a "looker" and get your attention.....then is isn't built by David Wright.

David founded Charter Oak Homes in 1984 to make his long-time passion a reality. The idea was to build high-quality custom homes. The emphasis was on providing home buyers with value, true authenticity and custom-crafted details.

David's an engineer by training. He prides himself on his clear understanding of how to build a home: the right way. Just the way the customer wants. He listens. It's that simple.

David Wright possesses the unique skills most builders just don't have. A true eye for what is accurate. Special skills and a keen sense David Wright aka the Builder for making appropriate amenities a part of his everyday package. These are the qualities that make him a "custom builder" in the true sense of the word. In his own shop or at the site, he can design and build bookcases that could just as easily have come from the Lincoln Room at the Union League, built-in cabinets for a family room or bedroom, special moldings or millwork, or he'll duplicate time proven architectural features that you would likely find only in older, more traditional Main Line homes. This is David's passion, his work. Clearly, he's found his niche. No compromise to quality.

Architecture With An Eye For Its Environs

"Meadowcroft" on Concord Road in Thornbury Township, Chester County, was the site of Charter Oak Homes' first three houses. And all three sold in just 15 months. After that, numerous custom homes were build in Chester and Delaware Counties. In 1986, Charter Oak Homes purchased Land Grant Farm on Route 926 in Westtown, PA.

David Wright: "We surrounded the original farmhouse with four new construction sites. We let the terrain dictate each of the house sitings, naturally. We used traditional farmhouse designs we knew would compliment the character of the main house. Having an eye for the environs....that's one of the keys."

In 1989, Charter Oak Homes purchased 28 acres in East Bradford Township south of West Chester, off Rt. 100. Part woods, mostly farmland. The property was developed into 12 beautiful building sites for 12 custom country homes. Their surrounding inspired the design. And the details set them apart. The tract is known as "Allegiance". You should see it today.
